Types of reducers and daily maintenance methods

It can reduce the speed of an electric motor, internal combustion engine, or other high-speed running power by meshing the small number of teeth on the input shaft of the reducer with the large gear on the output shaft. There are many types of reducers, and each type has different functions, Below, the editor will introduce the types and daily maintenance methods of reducers to everyone!
1、 Common types of reducers
1. Steering box
The steering box, also known as a commutator or steering gear, is a power transmission mechanism and a series of reducers. It has a wide range of applications in the industrial field. The steering box has single axis, double horizontal axis, single vertical axis, and double vertical axis options. The gear ratios of 1:1, 1.5:1, 2:1, 2.5:1, 3:1, 4:1, and 5:1 are all actual transmission ratios. The steering box can operate in both forward and reverse directions, with smooth transmission at low or high speeds. When the speed ratio of the steering box is not 1:1, the horizontal axis input and vertical axis output are deceleration, and the vertical axis input and horizontal axis output are acceleration.
2. Planetary gear reducer
Planetary reducers are widely used in servo, stepper, DC and other transmission systems due to their small size, high transmission efficiency, wide deceleration range, and high accuracy. Its function is mainly used to reduce speed, increase torque, and reduce the load/motor inertia ratio while ensuring precision transmission. Due to structural reasons, planetary reducers have a minimum single stage reduction of 3 and a maximum reduction of generally no more than 10. The common reduction ratio is 3/4/5/6/8/10, and the number of stages of the reducer generally does not exceed 3. However, some large reduction reducers have a 4-stage reduction compared to customized reducers.
3. Worm reducer
There are mainly cylindrical worm reducers, circular arc toroidal worm reducers, conical worm reducers, and worm gear reducers, among which cylindrical worm reducers are the most commonly used. The worm gear reducer is suitable for a reduction ratio of 10-80. Compact structure, high transmission ratio, but low transmission efficiency, suitable for low-power and clearance work situations. When the circumferential speed V of the worm is ≤ 4~5m/s, the worm is of the down position type and has good lubrication and cooling conditions; When V ≥ 4-5m/s, the stirring loss of the oil is relatively large, and the worm is generally of the upper type.
4. Cycloidal gear reducer
1) High speed ratio and high efficiency single stage transmission can achieve a reduction ratio of 1:87, with an efficiency of over 90%. If multi-stage transmission is used, the reduction ratio will be higher;
2) Due to the use of planetary transmission principle, the input and output shafts are on the same axis line, resulting in a compact structure and small size for its model;
3) Stable operation, low noise, large number of meshing teeth, large overlap coefficient, and mechanism of machine component balance, which limits vibration and noise to the minimum extent;
4) Reliable use and long service life. The main components are made of high carbon chromium steel material, which has been quenched (HRC58-62) to obtain high strength. Additionally, some transmission contacts use rolling friction, making them durable and have a long service life;
5) Reasonable design, convenient maintenance, easy disassembly and installation, minimum number of parts, and simple lubrication make the cycloidal gear reducer highly trusted by users.
5. SB needle wheel cycloidal reducer
The SB needle wheel cycloidal reducer is a redesigned transmission device based on the cycloidal needle wheel reducer. The cycloidal reducer is widely used in mechanical equipment fields such as transportation lines and assembly lines in petroleum, chemical, light industry, textile, food, plastics, pharmaceuticals, ceramics, printing and dyeing, metallurgy, mining, tobacco, papermaking, leather making, woodworking, electronic instruments, glass, environmental protection, etc.
6. Planetary cycloidal pinwheel reducer
The planetary cycloidal pinwheel reducer is a compact and novel belt reducer that applies the principle of planetary transmission and adopts a cycloidal meshing mechanism. It can be widely used in chemical, ceramic, mining, lifting, transportation and other equipment.
7. Three ring reducer
The three ring reducer is an advanced translational transmission mechanical reducer, which is widely used in many fields such as mining, metallurgy, petroleum, chemical, rubber, engineering machinery, lifting transportation, and light industry. It has the advantages of large torque, smooth operation, large transmission ratio, and good overload performance.
8. Electric hoist reducer
The reduction mechanism of the electric hoist adopts a three-level external helical gear transmission mechanism. The gears and gear shafts are made of high-strength alloy steel and undergo heat treatment, with high strength and good wear resistance. The transmission shaft is supported by rolling bearings, and the gears are lubricated by lubricating oil sealed in the reduction box.
